Legionella & Healthcare Water Management Consultant (ASHRAE 188)
Part Time | Remote with nationwide travel
About the role
I-2-I Solutions is a water quality and Legionella testing laboratory supporting VA medical centers, military treatment facilities, hospitals, and dental clinics nationwide. We're looking for an experienced water management professional to help our clients build and maintain Water Management Programs under ASHRAE Standard 188, CDC guidance, and VA requirements.
This is a part-time role with flexible scheduling - a good fit if you're semi-retired, consulting independently, or looking to take on project work alongside your current position.
- Developing, implementing, and updating healthcare Water Management Programs per ASHRAE 188
- Conducting onsite assessments and risk evaluations of healthcare water systems
- Building water system flow diagrams and identifying hazards and control measures
- Designing sampling plans for potable water, sterile processing water (ANSI/AAMI ST108), dental unit waterlines, and utility systems
- Reviewing water quality data and recommending corrective actions
- Working directly with facility engineering, infection prevention, and sterile processing staff
- Supporting water quality investigations, including outbreak response
- Writing technical reports and delivering client training and presentations
What we're looking for
Experience in healthcare, institutional, or commercial water management, and a background in any one of the following:
- Water treatment or certified water technologist
- Professional engineering
- Industrial hygiene
- Environmental health
- Healthcare facilities engineering
- Infection prevention
You should be a strong technical writer - a good portion of this role is producing reports clients can act on - and comfortable working independently with facility staff.
Helpful, but not required
Experience with ASHRAE 188, VA Directive 1061, Legionella risk assessments, dental unit waterline programs, sterile processing departments, Joint Commission or CMS compliance, or CDC toolkit implementation. Certifications such as ASSE 12080, ASSE 12060, CIH, CHFM, PE, or CSP are a plus.
