Schedule: 40 hours per week, typically four 10-hour shifts
Position Summary
I-2-I Solutions is seeking an experienced, California-certified Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator for a temporary assignment at the Wawona Wastewater Treatment Plant in Yosemite National Park.
The operator will help maintain safe, efficient, and permit-compliant wastewater treatment operations. This is an onsite position expected to last approximately 18 weeks.
Employment is contingent upon contract award, candidate approval, and verification of all required licenses and certifications.
Schedule
The normal schedule will be one of the following:
Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Tuesday through Friday, 6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
The final schedule will be coordinated based on plant access and operating requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Operate wastewater treatment systems in compliance with NPDES permits and applicable local, state, and federal regulations
Monitor and control treatment processes using SCADA and local control systems
Inspect, operate, troubleshoot, and assist with repairs to pumps, valves, clarifiers, digesters, aeration tanks, blowers, generators, filters, lift stations, meters, gauges, and related equipment
Collect and test wastewater influent, effluent, sludge, and process-control samples
Identify and document chemical, physical, and biological characteristics of wastewater
Maintain accurate daily operating logs, process-control records, sampling results, and regulatory documentation
Handle wastewater-treatment chemicals, including chlorine, soda ash, polymer, and alum
Follow standard operating procedures, safety requirements, equipment manuals, and technical instructions
Promptly report operational, safety, or compliance concerns
Help maintain permit-compliant effluent quality and reliable plant performance
Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the following requirements:
Current California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade II certification
Current California Water Treatment Operator Grade T2 certification
Current California Water Distribution Operator Grade D1 certification
At least two years of wastewater treatment plant operating experience
Valid state-issued driver’s license
Experience with wastewater sampling, testing, process control, and regulatory compliance
Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures, blueprints, and operation and maintenance manuals
Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to work outdoors in snow, rain, summer heat, and cold weather
Ability to work safely around wastewater, chemicals, machinery, and treatment equipment
Work Environment
The Wawona Wastewater Treatment Plant is located at approximately 4,000 feet above sea level. Temperatures may range from approximately 90°F during summer to 5°F during winter.
The plant is permitted for up to 105,000 gallons per day and includes aeration and anoxic basins, clarifiers, gravity sand filters, chlorine disinfection, effluent storage tanks, sludge-processing equipment, SCADA controls, and an onsite certified laboratory.
Transportation, Lodging, and Work Clothing
This position requires reliable personal transportation to and from the worksite
A government-owned vehicle will not be provided
The selected employee is responsible for securing their own lodging
Oakhurst, California is the closest major lodging area to the Wawona facility
The employee must provide steel-toed footwear, long pants made from denim or heavier material, and an appropriate work shirt
Additional required personal protective equipment will be identified before the assignment begins
